Saint Takyi is a London-based artist whose multidisciplinary practice spans painting, sculpture, drawing, and writing to construct speculative worlds rooted in mythology and identity. Working primarily in oil on canvas, Takyi creates dreamlike, dimorphic figures that merge child and adult characteristics, often using their own body as the sitter to explore ancestry, spirituality, and the complexities of dual heritage. Blue, a colour both symbolically charged and uncommon in nature, becomes a recurring visual language through which ephemeral humanoid forms emerge, reflecting the artist’s interest in worldbuilding, anthropological photography, and the creation of alternative histories and mythologies.
Takyi graduated with an MA in Painting from the Royal College of Art in 2024, supported by the Sir Frank Bowling Scholarship, following a BA in Graphic Design from the University of Derby and an Erasmus exchange at PXL MAD School of Arts in Belgium. In the same year, they were awarded the 2024 Ingram Art Prize, with their painting Emerging Pasts entering the prestigious Ingram Collection of Modern British and Contemporary Art. Their work has been exhibited at institutions and galleries across the UK, including MK Gallery, Studio 3 Gallery at the University of Kent, The Fitzrovia Gallery, Fleet Studios, and Twilight Contemporary.
