Elizabeth Xi Bauer is delighted to share Petra Feriancová’s participation in the fifth edition of OFFSCREEN, Paris, taking place from 20 to 25 October 2026 at the historic Chapelle Saint-Louis de la Salpêtrière.

At OFFSCREEN, Feriancová presents LIMBO, an evolving, site-responsive installation conceived specifically for the chapel. Working across photography, sculpture and installation, the artist approaches the archive as a sculptural and spatial form, bringing together personal photographs, National Geographic clippings, found imagery and objects whose meanings shift through juxtaposition and transformation.

The installation considers how memory is inherited, constructed and passed between generations, with particular attention to motherhood and the relationship between mother and daughter. Within LIMBO, Family (Vulnerable yet Everlasting) (2015/2026) incorporates images from National Geographic magazines alongside Feriancová’s own photographs, arranged across a double-sided leporello. For Feriancová, the magazines carry a particular personal significance. Preserved by her family in Cold War-era Czechoslovakia, when access to Western publications was limited, this periodical became a formative archival object, functioning almost like a family photo album.

Presented within the former chapel, LIMBO brings Feriancová’s ongoing investigation into systems of knowledge, memory and image-making into dialogue with the architecture and history of the site. The work forms part of OFFSCREEN’s wider exploration of the ways in which artists can expand the image beyond the photographic or cinematic frame, into installation, object and space.

OFFSCREEN is dedicated to contemporary, historic and avant-garde artists working with image-based practices. Bringing together 29 artists represented by 29 galleries from France and around the world, the 2026 edition explores expanded approaches to photography, film, video, installation and digital image-making through a site-specific presentation within the chapel.

This year’s Guest of Honour is Ana Mendieta, whose presentation of six films occupies the chapel’s central rotunda. This edition presents works by artists including Ibrahim Mahama, Steina Vasulka, Andrea Geyer, Aglaia Konrad, Rinus Van de Velde and Boris Mikhaïlov, alongside Petra Feriancová.
