Petra Feriancová
Petra Feriancová’s work often embraces pre-existing objects, images, texts and collections. Her interventions make manifest the act of affective interpretation, carried out by each person and shaped by their unique life experience, which occurs independently of an object, image or text’s original meaning. Feriancová’s practice inspires open-ended reflection and wonder towards the act of creation; these reactions are seen as shaped by civilisation, culture and history.
Feriancová lives and works in Bratislava. She studied at the Accademia di Belle Arti of Rome and is currently a PhD candidate in the Department of Intermedia and Multimedia at the Academy of Fine Arts, Bratislava. In 2011 she was an artist in residence at the prestigious ISCP in New York.
Her artworks have been the subject of major solo and group shows at an international level; in 2013 she was selected to represent the Czech and Slovak Pavilion at the 55th Venice Biennale. In 2015, she was awarded the Prize Level 0 by the expanding project ArtVerona. She has also exhibited at the PyeongChang Biennale in South Korea.
As an important Slovakian artist, she was selected to exhibit in ‘Signal: The Story of (Post)Conceptual Art in Slovakia’ at The Ludwig Museum of Contemporary Art in Budapest.
Her artworks were exhibited by Art Collection Telekom, who collect her work, in the exhibition ’30 Years After Art Collection Telekom’ in Nîmes. The Siemens Collection also collects her work.
