Amidst the exhibition Hand in Hand, Elizabeth Xi Bauer hosted an inaugural EXB Lates evening that transformed the gallery into a space where contemporary Brazilian art and live music unfolded in conversation. Set amongst the works of celebrated Brazilian artists Lidia Lisbôa and Thiago Barbalho, the event featured an intimate live performance by London-based Brazilian singer-songwriter Carolina Lelis, whose distinctive blend of MPB, jazz, soul and Afro-Brazilian rhythms brought an original musical dialogue to the exhibition.

As melodies filled the gallery, Carolina Lelis’s performance intertwined with the works in Hand in Hand, creating an exchange between contemporary Brazilian music and art. Together, sound and image echoed the exhibition’s themes, fostering reflection, conversation, and togetherness.

This event marks the start of the EXB Lates programme, creating space for exhibitions to be experienced through multiple forms of artistic expression, and bringing visual art and live performance into discourse.
